Project Purpose

The project titled ITUARC – Research Center for Smart Aviation and Space Applications of Innovative Technologies began on October 1, 2018, with support from the Istanbul Development Agency. This project aims to increase activities carried out under university-industry collaboration within the ITU Center for Aerospace Research and Applications (ITUARC). It seeks to enhance the competitiveness and efficiency of our domestic industry through innovative, high value-added technologies.

Within ITUARC, a critical sub-specialization and innovation center has been established, aiming to develop high value-added national and domestic technologies in areas such as manned and unmanned aerial vehicles and defense systems, using next-generation composites, smart and wearable technologies, and nanotechnological materials.

The center provides a unique interdisciplinary environment and aims to conduct informational, educational, and collaborative activities involving children, youth, university students in relevant fields, industry professionals, and academics. Through a communications office and portal established within the center, the goal is to enable especially private sector entities and SMEs to actively engage in R&D, innovation, high-tech, and knowledge-based production efforts alongside the leading institutions and universities in Turkey's aviation and space industries.

To achieve the stated objectives and goals of the project, information days, seminars, and industry-academia meetings will be organized. These events will facilitate knowledge sharing regarding the content, scope, and outcomes of R&D projects in the context of technology transfer.
